This simple recipe is an old favorite to prepare during fall. While it does need to cook for a while, preparation couldn't be easier, especially if you use a food processor. Try serving it with roast chicken or turkey, or with your favorite beef or pork dish.

6 cups shredded red cabbage
2 chopped tart cooking apples
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
Dash white pepper
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup red wine or apple cider vinegar

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients. Simmer covered, for about an hour, stirring occasionally.
